What is Yoga? Who is a Yogi?
– Dr. Kaushik Chaudhary
Yoga means union. But with what? With whom? All the matter in the universe that we can see and observe, all those 100 billion stars in each of the 100 billion galaxies, is just 5 % of total cosmic energy. Next 25 % of cosmic energy is grabbed in the black holes. We can’t see that part of matter. That is called dark matter. And the rest of 70 % energy is unseen, dispersed in space-time some way. That is called dark energy in physics.
Our physical bodies are formed from that 5 % observable matter. So, whatever our senses can detect in this existence is 5 % maximum. The memory we collect through these senses is called our conscious mind. It can expand up to the maximum limit of 5% only. Commonly, in an average human, only 1 to 2 % of conscious mind is active. The next 25 % of our mind is connected to the dark matter. That is called sub-conscious mind. We can’t observe it but it handles our body parts and body movements like breathing in lungs, beating of heart, peristaltic movement of intestines etc. The rest 70 % of our mind is connected to the invisible dark energy. That is called unconscious mind. This is the common mind of all the creatures. In fact, it is the common mind of entire existence. This is where a human is connected to the entire existence. This is where we all are connected to one another. The intuitions great people get about their great works are coming from their unconscious mind. From unconscious to sub-conscious and from sub0conscious to the conscious, this is how the consciousness travels. But people don’t know about this science, so they believe it as a God’s sign or God’s order and follow it.
Thus, we have direct access to only 1 to 2% of our total 100% cosmic energy. Our own energy is making our heart beating, but we don’t know. Our lungs, our intestines, they all are being handled by our own mind but we don’t know. The working is going on out of our consciousness. Our own 70% of energy is handling whole existence, it knows the time in all its three parameters of past, present and future, but ‘We don’t know’. As a result, our whole life is an accident, a story of luck by chance.

This unconscious energy of our own is the God we are seeking from ages through various religions. And Yoga is nothing else but a union to that remaining 95 % of our own energy. And that’s how, we call it a union with god. That ultimate union is the goal of all real Yoga practices. The union of our conscious, sub-conscious and unconscious energy to function in total. And the one who has achieved this union is called ‘A Yogi’. A Yogi is the one who is enlightened one with this science, this ultimate truth of his/her complete form.
So, Yoga and a Yogi is not about twisting body parts in various shapes. It’s about being in union with the supreme force of the existence. And that union brings the most supreme thing of the existence in a Yogi, the consciousness. What is happening in existence at this moment is the consciousness. A Yogi follows that only. He never remains stuck into the memory of past or never fantasises future. He just satys connected to the cosmos and does what’s necessary at the moment. He lives in a complete clarity about the necessity of his actions, what to do and what not to do. He never resists himself doing the necessary work because respect and insult, benefit and loss, victory and defeat have become equal for him. He never needs anything from outside. He is just complete in himself. And that makes him free. That finally makes him eligible for salvation, the highest goal of humanity. That is the life and fate of a Yogi.
